Chiropractic Neurology in Cherry Creek
What is Chiropractic Neurology?
Chiropractic Neurology, Functional Neurology, or Clinical Neuroscience is an emerging field that focuses on assessing patients as a whole and finding functional limitations of the brain, body, and or mind, then supplying controlled stimulation to induce neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to change the function and structure of itself based on the experiences and stimulation you provide to it). Rather than coating the problem we address it at the root cause. Utilizing a combination of passive and active modalities we are able to shape your brain, together, to the goals you want to achieve. We evaluate and manage utilizing the main three pillars of health. The 3 Pillars; Neurological (the brain and nerves), Metabolic (the body; nutrition and lifestyle), and Psychological (the mind). Your brain is the seed of life; it determines our emotions, how we react to stimulus, how we talk, how we walk, the words we use, the way we stay balanced, the decisions we make, the way we interact with friends and strangers, the pain we feel, what drives our motivation, the hormones that are released and the timing of them, anything we do is interpreted and ultimately decided by our neurology.
A Typical Chiropractic Neurological Exam
A thorough history taking starts the exam to get a greater picture of your story and situation. This will include the incident that led you to the office, past medical history, surgeries, nutrition, lifestyle, hobbies, outcome goals, and how you envision a healthy you. Followed by a complex examination that will go through basic neurological functions; cranial nerve tests, tendon reflexes, muscle strength, and general sensation testing. Followed by examining finer environmental perceptions such as vibration, temperature, light touch, and synergy of sensory and motor pathways. A series of balance, dizziness, complex and alternating movement, fine/ coordinated movement, proprioception, and spatial awareness tests are done as well. All of this information is then interpreted with your doctor into terms you understand and can relate to. Ensuring that you are fully aware of the situation and findings of the test and how that relates to your symptoms is our goal of the review of findings portion. Finally, tailoring a treatment plan for your specific case consisting of any array of therapies in various durations or focuses in order to get you feeling the way you want to, without the need of pharmacological medicines.
